I2TERN - Conference of the Euroregional Projects
(I2TERN = Intelligence to the Trans European Road Network)

VIKING was hosting the annual conference of the EuroRegional Projects in Europe from 20th to 22nd June 2007 in Aalborg, Denmark.

The objective of the Euro-Regional Conference is to present seven current EuroRegional projects – ARTS, CENTRICO, CONNECT, CORVETTE, SERTI, STREETWISE and VIKING. The aim of these projects is to implement intelligent traffic management systems in the high-level European Road Network. The Euro-Regional conference will contribute to the strategic development and Europe-wide cooperation in terms of traffic telematics application by pushing up experience exchange and inducing discussions. The conference was accompanied by an exhibition on the subjects related to the traffic telematics applications. Fotis Karamitsos from DG TREN in the European Commission (EC) held the key opening speech and delivered the information, that the EC welcomed the Work Plan for the second phase of the MIP (the EASYWAY programme).

The First Euro-Regional Conference took place on initiative of the EuroRegional (ER) project CENTRICO on June 11-13 2003 in Duesseldorf, Germany. CENTRICO hosted the Inaugural conference on behalf of the ARTS, CORVETTE, SERTI, STREETWISE and VIKING projects. The event was supported by the European Commission. Over 200 persons from all over Europe and the USA participated.
